Harris were both fouled late in

attempted to get back into the

play, but the two
upperclassmen went 4-for-4
from the charity stripe and
gave HSU the win.

Redwave and Lady Redwave Qualify Record Number for National Meet!!

The Redwave qualified 8 swimmers and 2 divers and the Lady Redwave qualified 10 swimmers
for the National Meet in Houston, TX March 11-14. This is a record number of qualifiers for
HSU! Another record is the total amount of qualifying standards achieved by the Redwave and
Lady Redwave. The Redwave made 12 "A" cuts and 9 "B" cuts while the Lady Redwave made 12

Henderson State Falls to Delta State to Open Swim Season

Henderson State opened its 2009 swim season over the weekend in Cleveland, Miss. against a
very good Delta State University squad. The men’s team lost a close competition by a final
score of 144-136, and the Lady Red Wave fell 156-135.

The Red Wave performance was highlighted by the swimming of two freshman, Zach Interrante
and Nick James.

Grey team defeats red in annual intrasquad meet
OCT. 2, 2009

The Grey team defeated the Red team with a combined score of 159-136.

On the men's side, the Grey team's Nick James, Taylor Kneisley, Zach Interrante, and Aras
Karakivrak started the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay at 1.36:94. In a close
second, the Red team's Jair Boerenveen, Val Ladrat, Grant Beahan, and selim Oz turned in a time
of 1.39:59. The men's Grey team went on to win 80-67.

On the Women's side, the Grey Team's Chelsea Leary, Catie Morrow, Hannah Weise, and Nicole
Horn started the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay at 1.52:01. In a close second, the
Red Team's Natalie Gallant, Rebekah Norman, Allison Kliewer, and Tara Grieger finished at
1.53:34. The women's Grey Team went on to win 79-69.

HSU Swim Teams Sweep Ouachita Baptist

After the Red Wave and Lady Red Wave suffered close losses to begin the season at Delta
State two weeks ago, Henderson State regained its form and swept Ouachita Baptist on Friday
in Arkadelphia, Ark.

The women’s squad won in a route, 149-87, while the men’s competition came down to the last
race in the meet, the 400 freestyle relay, which the Red Wave team of Grant Beahan, Zach
Interrante, Levi Mishe and Nick James won in 3:06.49, giving there team the 11 points for
winning the event and a 121-116 victory in the overall competition.

Swim Team Sweeps Hendrix Relays, Win 21 of 26 Events

Henderson State was clearly the class of the 47th Hendrix Relays event over the weekend in
Conway, Ark. The Lady Red Wave won on the women’s side, earning 466 points, 80 points ahead
of its closest competitor, Centenary. The men’s team totaled 460 points, 78 points ahead of
Centenary.

HSU won the men’s side of the event competing against eight other schools, while the Lady Red
Wave defeated nine other teams.

The Lady Red Wave won 11-of-13 events on the day. Jennifer Rodriguez, a freshman from Katy,
Texas, gave the women’s squad the momentum early on with wins in both 1 meter and 3 meter
diving.

Red Wave Earns Top Combined Score at UALR Christmas Invitational
Dec. 7, 2009

Henderson State earned the top combined score at the Arkansas-Little Rock Christmas
Invitational swim meet over the weekend, defeating teams from Ouachita Baptist, Hendrix
College and UALR.

The Lady Red Wave earned a convincing win against the other three schools, earning 958
points in the competition. Ouachita Baptist finished second with 677 points, 281 points behind
Henderson State. The men’s team finished second behind OBU.

Henderson State head coach Coak Matthews was pleased with his teams performance. "We
had a fantastic meet and I am extremely proud of all the swimmers and divers," Matthews said.
"The kids did a super job and showed tremendous concentration and heart throughout the
entire meet."

Lady Red Wave Wins HSU Invitational, Men Second

Henderson State won the women’s portion of the HSU Invitational swimming meet over the
weekend, scoring 373 points, ahead of second place finisher Ouachita Baptist who scored 326.
The men’s squad finished second behind OBU in a close competition 365-344, but still defeated
three other schools.

The Lady Red Wave kicked off its event by winning the 200 free relay event, as the foursome of
Tara Grieger, Audra Elrod, Amanda Kliewer and Nicole Horn won the event in 1:38.51.

Kliewer, Elrod and Horn won the 400 freestyle relay with Nikki Colton. Colton also won
three consolation events individually.

Rebekah Norman won the 200 breaststroke (2:31.15), while Horn took 100 freestyle honors.
