RED WAVE SWIMMERS MAKE HISTORY AT NSISC
Feb. 15, 2009
by Troy Mitchell

Despite not winning the championship at the New South Intercollegiate Swimming
Championships, the Henderson State Red Wave Swim Team made history as they will send a
record number of competitors to the NCAA National Championship March 11-14 in Houston,
Texas.

The NSISC Championships was a grueling four day event that saw several Henderson State
swimmers swim personal bests and record NCAA “A” cut and “B” cut qualifying times. A
swimmer who records a NCAA “A” cut time becomes an automatic qualifier for the national
championships, while “B” cut times are those swimmers who  will be selected to compete at the
national championships if not enough swimmers  made the “A” cut times to fill the field.

First day of the meet in Cleveland, Miss. saw the Lady Red Wave perform well in the 200 yard
medley relay event on Wednesday. HSU’s relay team of Natalie Miller, Allison Kliewer, Catie
Morrow and Tara Grieger finished second in the event in a time of 1:46.47, just behind Truman
State.
